COMMISSIONED WORK

The Woodland Trust

Horse logging by Loch Arkaig

The Woodland Trust is undertaking low impact timber removal on their.Loch Arkaig site in Lochaber. One area is being felled using a biodiesel powered forwarder, which transports logs to a specially constructed barge. This vessel was custom built in Central Scotland and transported by road in sections able to pass narrow bridges on a remote single track road, and assembled on site. It is temporarily diesel powered but has been designed to operate using an electric motor when the energy infrastructure permits charging. The other woodland area is being selectively felled in a low impact way using Tarzan the French Comtois logging horse working with his owner Simon Dakin, both of them staying on site in a very remote roadless area accessible only by water.
